Ann Siverling

Ann Siverling is open to receiving new spiritual directees at this time. She prefers to meet people in person at the Benedictine Center but can also be available to meet virtually on Zoom.

Ann is a teacher, pastor, chaplain, spiritual director, writer, musician, and bereavement counselor. Ann received her B A. from St. Olaf College, M.Div. from Luther Seminary, MBA from Bethel University, certification in Spiritual Direction from the Christos Center in Lino Lakes, certification on Servant Leadership from University of Madison Continuing Studies, and certification in Thanatology (the study of death, dying and bereavement) from the Association for Death Education and Counseling.  Ann has also been an oblate of St. Paul’s Monastery since 2013.

Ann has been blessed by the listening and guidance of her own spiritual directors for the past 25 years. She has experienced being listened to “with the heart of God” by her own spiritual directors, and that is what she tries to do with her own directees. Ann’s spirituality can best be described as both Benedictine and Ignatian. Ann finds immense joy and wonder in listening deeply to others, and to help them see God’s “fingerprints” in their lives. Ann loves to help others see where God’s direction is leading them to follow God’s call both in the ordinariness and in the extraordinariness of life. Ann believes it “takes a village” to walk together through life, and, as a spiritual director, Ann gets to be part of that village for others. She believes that each person she meets is a special, precious, beautiful, and unique child of God, and it is a holy time to work with each directee as they hunger for and grow deeper in their own spirituality.

Ann is comfortable working with people of all faiths and is comfortable and uniquely qualified working with directees on topics of moral injury and grief and loss.

Her own spiritual practices include daily prayer, centering prayer, Lectio Divina, spiritual reading, and attending prayer at St. Paul’s Monastery whenever possible. In addition, Ann continues her extended lectio study and experience of Isaiah 43:4a, “Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you.”

In her personal life, Ann is a mom, and a grandmother to three delightful grandsons. She loves to read mysteries, knit, write, take walks in nature, attend plays and concerts, and visit art and history museums. In addition, Ann writes a blog, which can be found at Home – Irreverent Life
